Hello everyone, I am Oliver, graduated from the domestic computer science program, studying for a master's degree in New York University. I was planning to work in a big factory after graduation, but I encountered a lot of resistance during my job search. Although I have learned Java in school, I don't have any practical experience in Java projects, and my toy project is not competitive in the job market, so it's very difficult for me to stand out in the job search of it companies.
In particular, I found that many tech companies, especially those like Google, Amazon, Facebook, GS, valued candidates' real-world project experience more than just algorithmic and communication skills. So in order to enhance my resume, I finally decided to prove my ability through a complete Java project.
So I enrolled in a full-stack project course from Drill Ingsight that focuses on Java. The best part of this course was that it allowed me to start from scratch and participate in a complete project development, including front-end, back-end and database design and implementation. The content of the course not only covers the core knowledge of Java, but also includes Spring, Hibernate, MySQL and other mainstream technology stack, which can help me to build an actual enterprise-level project. From requirements analysis to system design, to development and testing, I was personally involved in every step of the process. This not only allowed me to master the whole process of project development, but also gained an in-depth understanding of key technologies in actual development, such as Spring framework, database design and system architecture, and finally completed a fully-functional stock trading system, which gave me a great sense of accomplishment!
By completing this Java project, I not only improved my technical skills, but also put this project into my resume as my “killer application”. In the interview with Google, the interviewer was very interested in my project and asked me about the technical problems and solutions I encountered in the project, and finally I got the offer.
